Futuristic Street Environment

I decided to make my own variation of  these streets in Blender creating a small ramen shop scene. This project required me to gain a deeper understanding of both lighting and Blender's materials through the Blender geometry node system. In initial variations of the project I experimented with different light intensities and color variations. I specifically found creating the wet ground texture to be challenging and got help from a lot of YouTube videos.

I started this project when I was traveling in Asia. I was doing an internship in South Korea alone so a lot of the time I spent there I was walking around and taking photos of whatever looked super cool. I specifically liked the brightly lit up streets of Seoul at night. I also traveled to Japan during this time and took a lot of photos of Shibuya and Osaka at night.

I also focussed on directing the gaze of the user, making sure to emphasize and pay attention to the color of key focal points of the scene such as the signs as well as the pipes and wires. A challenge I ran into while making this was making sure to scale everything in relation to everything else in the scene. I solved this issue by keeping a human sized cube in the scene with me at all times to measure the size of each new asset I built.
